Field Study #4

Image
October 30, 2023, 5:25PM Present climate conditions: Cloudy, dry, cold, (snowed earlier today) Temperature 38 Day length 11:25 Today was cold. It was the first snow that I saw in a while although later it melted into rain and then during school at the end it looked more partly cloudy and like it wasn't going to snow again. All in all, though I can definitely tell that winter is upon us and I think that when I started it felt like noon at 5:30 but at 5:30 now it feels more like 7 pm because of the change in daylight. Today the trees were wet and I think the rain/snow/wind caused some more leaves to fall because the trees are looking even more bare. I did not see any animals other than the occasional bird, and we didn't get many deer on camera.  Also, the Rye is about inches tall Sound map:

Field Notes #3

October 15, 2023, 5:30PM Present climate conditions: brisk, windy, and cloudy Temperature 52 Day length 11:05 Today there weren't many animals out and about but I did see a squirrel doing similar things to what the one was doing last sit. It was storing acorns for the winter. The crops are still around 5-6 inches and seem to be thriving from all the rain that came in the past few days. The camera hasn't been too active lately due to all the rain. I think all the deer are all bedded down when its rainy because they don't like to not be able to hear their surroundings due to the rain on the leaves. Although this Saturday at 6pm we got a good amount of does on camera: And this buck on camera at around midnight: Also the Rye is about 7 inches tall
